Function:
Domestic inverter is supposed to have
basically two functions. i.e. to charge
the battery while the mains is ON and to
convert the stored energy to 220 V
A.C
suitable to operate house hold appliances like fans, tubes, T.V. etc.

Features of series PPI :
Fixed
output frequency:- General variety inverters
incorporates self oscillating type
inverter circuitry for reasons of economy and technical
backwardness - series PPI inverters has
IC controlled oscillator to keep out put frequency
fixed. It has no effect with battery
voltage variation or load variations and
hence are safe.
Overload cutout:- Electrical
Appliances like fans tubes etc are connected to
inverters. But for practical reasons -
inverters' are connected to only essential appliances and not full load. For this external
wiring are required to separate the "essential" load from normal load. Series PPI
incorporate fully solid state overload
cutout circuitry to keep constant check on the load
consumed. Supply to the system is cut
immediately if the load exceeds the safe limit and thus saving the inverter from damage due to
overloading.
Auto restart:- Some of the
recent inverters incorporates "over load" cut out
with manual rest "push" or "switch" to
restart the inverter. Imagine during the
power cut-your inverter also cuts your
load to safeguard it-self. It may land
you in a lot of trouble first to
locate inverter and then the re-start switch.

incorporates unique sampling circuitry.
It reconnects the load every 7 to 10 seconds sampling the load till the excess Load is
not switched "off". It helps in two way
- 1st you are not in total darkness and second you have to
switch off the extra load only. Access
to inverter and reset switches are not required.
Automatic battery charging:-
All the inverters have charging circuitry to
charge the battery when the main's
supply is on. But charging the battery constantly beyond safe limit damages the battery. It also adds
an electricity bill for the energy not utilised. Series PPI inverters has battery charger with
current limiting circuitry, over
charging cutout and auto switch over from
boost mode of charging to trickle
charging mode. This keeps the battery in
fully charged conditions. It has
been observed that these features prolonge
the battery life and hence reduces
maintenance cost.
Easy serviceability:- Open up any inverter including said to be
well known brand you will notice mess
of wiring - multiple of electronics circuitry boards –
making them only serviceable by the
assembler. Series PPI inverters have single plug in type control card. Replacing the control card
can be carried out by even a
non-technical person.
